UHMW, which has higher molecular weight (2-6 million) which allows for an even transfer over the length of material which makes it stronger, allowing it to be useful for bearing products due to the great wear resistance. Commonly used in the food processing and dairy industry, UHMW is a nice replacement for all kinds of other industrial materials together with wonderful strategy to many wear issues.   Most of these polymers are derived from the same polyolefin plastic materials family, but all have certain properties that make them a little different. HDPE provides great chemical resistance, has exceptional impact strength and great energy absorption. Low Density Polyethylene has several of the same properties as High Density however it is not as dense at 9.15, the lowest in comparison to HDPE which happens to be 9.34, in addition to being a softer material ( one gallon coffee can lids). In addition, it provides a lower tensile strength and far better, more convenient heat processing.
UHMW is definitely a strong material that features great durability and low co-efficient of friction rendering it an ideal for sliding applications. The only plastic material with a lower co-efficient of friction is Dupont Teflon - PTFE; which has a higher temperature and chemical resistance. Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene gives the wide range of material products and properties,  and most of these products include outstanding longevity that could be ideal for a number of applications.
